TESLA WALL CONNECTOR EV CHARGER

Wall Connector is an efficient and convenient home charging solution

The Tesla Wall Connector is a versatile and high-performance EV charger compatible with both Tesla and non-Tesla vehicles (via a Type 2 adapter). Its sleek design suits indoor and outdoor installations, adapting to various electrical systems in homes, apartments, businesses, and hospitality settings. Offering up to 71km (44 miles) of range per hour, it's ideal for fast charging.

Key features include:

  • Universal Type 2 compatibility
  • Tesla app integration for scheduling, management, and tracking
  • Wi-Fi connectivity for updates
  • Compact, aesthetically pleasing design (345mm x 155mm x 110mm)
  • 7.3-meter tethered cable
  • IP55 weatherproofing
  • Up to 22kW output on three-phase systems
  • Power sharing for multiple units
  • Single or three-phase installation compatibility
  • Tesla charge port opening functionality.

Wall Connector Key Features Include:

  • Speed: Delivers up to 22kW/32A, providing up to 44 miles of range per hour for Tesla vehicles. Charging speeds for other EVs depend on the vehicle's onboard charger.
  • Compatibility: Works with most EVs, including Tesla and other makes (ensure correct plug type).
  • Convenience: Adapts to most home electrical systems with customizable power levels, suitable for various locations.
  • Tesla App Integration: Control, schedule, and monitor charging via the Tesla app. Wi-Fi enables automatic firmware updates. Installers use the Tesla One app for commissioning.
  • Warranty: 48 months for residential use, 12 months for commercial use.
  • Commercial Use: Offers pay-per-use functionality and remote monitoring for commercial properties.
  • Access Control: Restricts charging access (Tesla vehicles only) via the commissioning wizard.
  • Installation: Suitable for both indoor and outdoor installation.

MATT:E Pen fault protection

Tesla Wall Connectors themselves do not have built-in PEN fault protection.

This means that if you are installing a Tesla Wall Connector in a location with a PME (Protective Multiple Earthing) supply, you will likely need to install a separate PEN fault protection device to comply with safety regulations.

Here's why this is important:

  • PME System Risks: As mentioned before, PME systems can pose a risk of electric shock if the combined neutral and earth conductor (PEN) is broken.
  • Safety Regulations: In many regions, regulations like BS 7671 in the UK require PEN fault protection for EV chargers connected to PME supplies.
  • External Device: This is why you often see Tesla Wall Connectors being installed with a separate device, like the matt:e SP-EVCP, to provide the necessary PEN fault protection.

It's crucial to consult with a qualified electrician to ensure your Tesla Wall Connector installation is safe and compliant with all local regulations. They will be able to assess your electrical system and determine if PEN fault protection is required.

Tesla EV chargers, like many others, may require PEN fault protection when connected to a PME (Protective Multiple Earthing) supply. Here's why:

  • PME System Risks: PME systems combine the protective earth and neutral conductors into one (the PEN conductor). If this PEN conductor breaks, it can cause the metal casing of the EV charger and the car itself to become live, posing a serious electric shock hazard.
  • Safety Regulations: Regulations like BS 7671 mandate measures to protect against this risk. PEN fault protection devices are designed to detect a break in the PEN conductor and quickly disconnect the charger, preventing a dangerous situation.
  • How it Works: These devices monitor the voltage between the neutral and earth. If a fault occurs, the voltage will change, and the device will trigger a disconnection, isolating the EV charger and car from the faulty supply.

AREAS COVERED

SW19 Based...

We're based in SW19 and depending on the job we look to have a maximum travel time of 40-60 mins, so in distance terms we will go much further West and South then North and East.

If you are not sure, just ask... if it is quiet I might go that 'extra mile'!
